Our story

Hi, I am Sabine. In 2006 I moved to Queensland from Germany with my husband and three kids. We moved to North Queensland and fully embraced the tropical lifestyle. After spending a few years in Townsville we now all live and work in Brisbane. As a family we have travelled a lot through Queensland and fell in love with its stunning beaches and dense rainforests. 

The idea for Descart was born when we all still lived in Townsville. It started with an initial series of retro travel posters for a local shop and slowly developed into an outlet for my creativity. A couple of years ago my son Simon joined to help me grow the business. Working together on Descart allows us to share our passion for this beautiful corner of the world.

Prioritizing local vendors is a huge part of our small business as we strongly believe in supporting the vibrant Queensland community. By sourcing products and services locally we help to build stronger connections, reduce our environmental footprint and ultimately create a more resilient local economy. Supporting our neighbours is a nod to community strength and adds that extra touch of authenticity you just can’t get anywhere else.

At Descart, we create designs that celebrate the tropical Queensland lifestyle, making it accessible for everyone. Our collections feature modern prints that add style and colour to your home. We hand pack and dispatch your art prints from our Descart studio in Yeronga to ensure they arrive in pristine condition. Each order is taken care of individually and as a sign of our appreciation, you will always find a hand-written note with your order.

Quality

When buying a descart print you are tapping into my 20 years of experience as a print designer. I am especially passionate about paper quality, sourcing my own paper and working closely with a small local printing company to achieve the highest quality print possible. To preserve that quality every print is packaged with a backing board and is sealed in a cello sleeve.
